Facebook Chat bar showing up in a white box on the top of my screen in Google Chrome- how can I fix it?

Whenever I go to Facebook in Google Chrome, my Facebook chat bar that is usually in the bottom right corner shows up in a 2-inch white bar across the top, with simply just the text blue and underlined, without any flashy graphics like in the bottom. Also, messages start at the top of the page in the white bar area and not from below the navy blue message header. Please help! I desperately need to fix this and it's driving me insane! Thanks for any and all help and suggestions!
