Serious answers, please. Is the U.S. Republican view contrary to Islam?

sorry that was a little complicated for me to understand. i don't really know a lot about politics. BUT riba is when you borrow money and give more than what you borrowed back. like banks and interest for example. i thought welfare is like charity? if that's the case then it's not the same thing. it's ok to help the poor. but i might be understanding all this wrong since i don't live in the US so i don't know how things work there.
