My mom thinks I'm rude because I don't like to go to parties?

I'm the same way, I dislike large groups and social gatherings and have actively avoided parties of any kind since I was about 11. Unfortunately the majority of other people can't seem to comprehend this and we'll both spend most of our lives politely declining invitations to increasingly bemused friends and family.
